Default Help 35hp to 50hp

I have a 1983 35hp short shaft outboard and was told recently that the 35hp and 50hp outboards from this year used the same platform but some different parts. I would like to get a list of the parts needed to upgrade to a 50hp seeing that I have had a diffcult time finding a used 50 short shaft motor for sale that I can afford. Any help would be appreciated.

It looks like the cylinder block and exhaust plate ***embly are the major differences. Does not tell me what exactly are the differences. Outside the block and exhaust plate. The only difference I can notice is the carburetor jetting. Both motors use the same reeds, pistons, crank, etc. You may try just rejetting the carbs, but I am sure they change some of the exhaust tuning for the additional horsepower.
