Default 1974 15HP Evinrude coils, which is number one cyl

My first time using this forum. I have a 1974 15hp Evinrude outboard with very little spark. I have just ordered two condensers cause I dont trust the old ones.

I have interchanged the two black connectors leading to the two coils on the side of the block. Question: which coil is for number one cylinder? And is Number one cylinder the top cylinder?

I have just cleaned and gaped the points to .020. Have I just messed up the timing? Do I need to go thru the process of reading the notes located under the flywheel to get the timing dialed in?

Any help would be appreciated.

The top plug is always number 1 and you should be able to trace the wires to the points to tell which set is opening for that coil.
