under the mag plate is a plate that the roller runs against, it has a slot in one end that makes it adjustable in and out to set timing and fuel timing. If the rubber wheel is worn it will cause the carb. to open late and if the plate has slid in to far it will so the same. the rubber wheel should contact the plate at about 1/4 throttle if it is set right.
