Evinrude 50hp tops out at 2000 RPM

Hey guys,

Just picked up a new (to me) wahoo that came with a 50HP evinrude. I am having trouble getting the boat to plane (which is probably the way i have the trim setup) but cannot get the engine to go over 2000 RPMS. It gets there just fine but wont go higher. My compression is 118psi and 120psi. Is that normal? I'm thinking the carbs may need a cleaning. Any suggestions as to what to look for or where to start?

The compression is ok, does it give you any other problems running?
