1980 60hp evinrued wont idle

My dad gave me a boat that has a 1980 60hp evinrude, that starts fairly easy when lever is in start position and stays running when lever is put into warm up position but when i put the lever arm all the way down for it to idle it only runs for a few seconds. Please help this is my first boat so i don't know much except for what i have read on forums, its a b*** boat and i'm ready to enjoy it any suggestions???????

Sound like either your carburetors are out of adjustment or require cleaning.
