Default 30 hp tiller question

I have a 1996 Evinrude 30HP tiller, and I hit a stump the other day running up the river. It through the motor in the air, and it bent a pin that controls the tilt on the tiller handle side. I was able to pull this pin out, and I looked at it when I got home so I could figure out what parts I needed to fix. The motor still runs and everything, just need to get this fix because I'm ***uming it needs both sides installed correctly to function (when tilting). I looked at some diagrams, and found that the 2 parts I need are 'Cam and Shaft Tilt-LK', which is what I bent, and 'FF Bushing Tilt-LK', which looked messed up. I was looking at the cam/shaft (I called it a pin) and was wondering what holds it in place. I need to remove the bushing (looks like small piece of PVC), install a new one, and install the pin, but am I missing anything?

I can take a picture or answer any questions, I'm just looking for some help with this. I wasn't sure what kept the pin in place, or if friction from the bushing is all. Didn't want the thing to come out again. It has a half notch on the end, and a small cam on one end (bracket end).

This may be confusing, but maybe some of you know what i'm trying to figure out. Thanks alot for anything.
