Default Evinrude clutch dog problem?

Hello,

I am new to this forum. I bought a 1969 25hp Evinrude a few months ago and I have replaced many parts in order to get it working. It was running great until I ran aground in really shallow (muddy) water and I had to get it to the bank and adjust the screw on the shift rod connector. It seemed to work fine. Now, it will not stay in forward unless I put a lot of pressure on the forward shift lever. If I don't hold it down in forward, then it jumps out of gear. And, even if I do hold it in forward, then it doesn't seem to have the pickup that it previously had. I said all of that because I don't want to waste $50-$60 on a part that isn't going to fix my problem. I have included links the the pictures of the clutch dog gear. Can anyone (with some experience) please have a look at the images and give me your opinion on whether or not I should replace it?
