  • E120tletf intermittent lean condition

    Hey All,
rebuilt a 120 last year. Bored cylinders .004 over. The motor will start and run fine for the first three or four times I start and run it during a trip. After that especially if I have been fishing for a while on the trolling motor the engine will become difficult to start and seems like it has a lean condition, it will wheeze and shut off. I can push the button on the throttle, place it in neutral and rev the engine and sometimes it will start and sometime it will not. When it does start it will idle low approx 500 rpm down from 1000 rpm normally. So here are the questions.
    1) Fuel lines have not been changed and it is a 93 engine so could that be a possible cause?
    2) Would a fuel water sep help?
    3) Should I put a larger idle orifice on the carb since the cylinder has been overbored .004? (also the idle air screw is all the way to rich)
    4) I'm thinking clogged orifice in the carb, but why would the problem be intermittent instead of constant?
Thank you in advance for any help
    Matt

Check fuel system, fuel hoses, primer bulb, filters, antisiphon valve and clean carbs. Test fuel pump pressure and vacumn.
