No idle throttle lever

Just got a 1979 Evinrude 55hp on a used boat
It starts and runs great but I am looking to the day when it gets finicky and I need to give it a little gas while in neutral. There is no switch or lever to allow a little throttle while in neutral, I've been around boats for 40 yrs and have never not had a lift throttle or release button to push lever forward while not putting it in forward.

Not sure what control box you have but the Evinrude single lever side mount boxes have a throttle lever on top, two lever boxes just advance throttle lever, flush mounted or binnacle mount controls have a button in center of lever or button on top of box to disengage shifter to allow throttle only.
