30 hp starter weak

Bought a new 586278 starter that will not spin engine, even with plugs
out and battery connected straight to starter terminal. Any one know of
problems with this starter?

Not commen in new starters. Have you tried using a different battery and battery cables. Verify your battery cables are not corroded and have good connections. Also verify battery is fully charged and can handle a load.
