I just bought a 1973 Evinrude 25hp tiller motor. It starts right up but goes 90mph. I can't throttle it down with the handle. Last week I tried putting it in gear to slow it down and sheared the pin. I had it serviced and it appeared to be acting normal. This morning it did the same thing. I did not engage the gear but hit the kill button. I started it 8 or 10 times and each time it was full speed rpm s. I feel this something minor out of adjustment but I don't know where to look. Two fishing trips ruined. HELP!

Either throttle is stuck at full throttle or have an air leak in intake or crankcase causing it to run too lean. -
If the throttle is stuck, how do I relieve it and keep it from repeating? I have the cover off. Thanks for the response and help.Comment

Will someone please tell me WHERE the stuck throttle is. It is one thing to tell me what the problem might be but quite a bit more helpful to tell me WHERE and HOW to fix it.
I have the cover off and as I shift the throttle handle things seem to be working properly.
