I have a 1980 7.5 and Iv been trying to figure out my loss of power at high rpms. I pulled my spark plugs and the top one is tan on the electrode and the bottom is black , so I looked at the coils and the bottom laminated part is melting, Iv tried pulling the wires at idle and they both give an rpm drop. I have an intermintent power loss at high speed sometimes it'll kick in and most the times it'll only go about 5mph, it's not reaching high rpm range. And the throttle response is not good. Iv soaked the carb in cleaner and sprayed out with air.
