!988 Evinrude 25hp water pump Replace

I am trying to drop the lower unit to replace the water pump impeller
Where do you disconnect the shift linkage ?

Remove the water inlet screen from gearcase, unscrew the nut on shift shaft to separate shaft and remove keeper from shaft.
