  • Optimal RPMs

    Hello,

I'm new to boating, and recently purchases a Grady White 208 Adventure with a 2007 Evinrude e-Tec 175 (E175DPXSUF). I recently put on a new propeller, and enjoyed learning all about how to ensure that the new one would allow the motor to operate within its WOT range: 4750–5750. But, I find that when I'm boating with my family, I like to keep the RPMS at around 4000—it's just calmer and quieter, and more pleasant while we're talking, etc.

SO: Do I actually need to operate within the specified range of 4750—5750, or is that just a guide to where the RPMs should land when I'm going at full throttle with the trim and tabs adjusted? Is it bad for my motor if I operate around 4000 RPMs most of the time?

No, you want to prop it out within operating range at full throttle and trim up but you can cruise at any rpm you like.
