    Exhaust blowing/ leaking oil

    I have a 15 hp, mod. number E15ECDE.
    While running it with garden hose hooked up, milky oil started coming out the exhaust out of the prop.

    The motor has been sitting for about a year.

    How deep am I having to go for the fix?

    What is the fix?

    I did attempt a search in this forum and did not come up with anything.

    Milky looking oil indicates a presence of water.

    Remove the spark plugs to check and see if water is within the cylinders.

    Remove the lower unit large slotted drain screw to see if the gearlube looks normal... or milky. Let us know what you find.

      I apologize about the delay.

      after further review it is possible my oil to gas mixture might have been to heavy on the oil.

      I will run new gas and see what happens.

      I will let you know if the situation changes.

      I just cant see how foot oil can get into the prop shaft/hub area of the foot.

        That problem could take place if one or the other (or both) of the following seals failed. The shift rod "O" Ring... or the upper drive-shaft seal under the water pump.

          Thank you again Mr. Reeves.

          I replaced the fuel and oil mix.

          Drained the lower unit oil. No water in that.

          Replaced lower unit oil.

          Fired it up and all is good....so far.

          No more milk coming out of the exhaust.

          I truly believe the oil to gas ratio was to heavy.
