  • Any Interest

    Hi guys,

I recently acquired from a cousin this 33HP Evinrude. Motor has been in storage for bout 25 years. It was put up running but was laid on it's side on the concrete two weeks before the Great Flood of 2016 in South Louisiana. It is seized up now. I have the cylinders soaking in a mixture of Kroil and Transmission fluid. If it frees up I will fix it but if it stays locked I was wanting to see if anybody here was interested in it for parts. It has the tank and remote controls. It is a electric start model. I have a vintage 9.8 Merc and a 92 XR6 Merc so I figure maybe some of you Evinrude guys may be interested n it for parts if I cannot do anything with it. Best part is it is free if I give up on it. Only catch is I would not want to ship it cause of the h***le but local pickup about 20 mins south of Baton Rouge. If no interest I will junk it but I thought I would offer you guys a shot to see if any interest. Kind of hard to tell from this one bad pic but it is not in bad shape for its age. If any interest I can post more pics

    Thanks,
    22R

If that engine was laying on the ground... in a flood, everything internally is coated with rust and not worth wasting your time on.

Should you by some sort of miracle get it running..... I suggest you stand clear as it will be similar to freeing a bomb timer with a hammer!

You may well be spot on. When I removed the head though the piston and cylinder walls looked ok. It feels smooth cranking by hand and no noise and has compression. If it get fire and I start it and it blows it will confirm my faith in Mercury outboards.
