  • Evinrude 110hp outboard troubles

The outboard is a 1986 E110TLCDC. I have been having engine trouble. The engine will start but when put in the water it will only run around 3000rpm. Then it will shut off for a while and then quit. Then one day a hole melted through the regulator. Around the same time the reelys to the power trim got really hot and melted a little. The carbs were just replaced and so was the trim motor, since it got hot the trim no longer works. So i'm planning on buying new wiring for the power trim components and a new stator and regulator. Does anyone know whether i need a 3/9 stator or 6 amp stator.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Just a side note i forgot to add that the engine would only run at 3/4 throttle. when i would give it full throttle it would bog out. I don't suspect a fuel problem i think it is all electrical. I checked all plugs and it is getting fire. Compression is good.

The 3/9 stator is used on power trim models. It could be lossing fire on a cylinder or a fuel restriction.

I purchased a new stator, reg/ rec. ***embly, rectifier lead ***b., and some new wiring for the power trim tilt. The parts are installed, all except for the rectifier which i can not seem to locate on the engine. The power trim still doesn't work. there is a clicking noise that comes out of one of the relies. What could this problem be? Where is the rectifier located?
