I have a control box rigged to a Evinrude 1996 V4 90hp E90sledr. I bought the boat used and do not know if the control is also 1996. The throttle cam is worn so badly I can't raise idle in neutral to start, and in gear there is so much slack it raises too much or lowers too much. I have tach 3 wire, trim 3 wire, choke 2 wire, neutral safety, but cant tell if the main harness will work with a 2004 6 wire plug. Both controls appear to have the same rubber boot entering the control. I have a Bombardier control box part# 177225 from 2004 that I like on my 40hp & it has a 6 wire plug. Can I buy a 177225 and rig it to my 1996 V4-90 hp ? If not, what newer control box part number do I need? Oh, and have throttle/shift cable ends changed since 1996? If they have does that mean I'll have to replace the cables?
