  • trim corosion

    Hi All,
Just a word of warning,my 50 hp Evinrude E-tec has developed a hydraulic fluid leak due to corrosion at the base of the trim piston housing,I purchased this motor in good faith after reading many good report's on the forum's,I now have to pay more than two thousand euro's to replace the trim unit, the design of the anode placement is obviously wrong ,I have had it serviced every year since buying in 2007,I own a diving center and this motor is on my rescue boat it has worked little but been well looked after,I have no faith in Evinrude product's anymore,so think twice before buying new and then having to pay 2000 euro after four and a halve years.

The culprit is a bolt/ screw with o-ring,it has corroded out allowing o-ring to escape, located at the base of the trim piston housing, sadly not visible until unit removed from the motor.
