1999 150hp ficht

This is my first post. My 1999 150 hp ficht has a starting issue. When not running for several minutes and I try to start it, the motor tries to start with a couple pops for 4 or 5 times and when it finally starts goes to a high idle and smokes for about 30 seconds then goes back to regular idle and quits smoking. After I runs then I have no problem until I shut it off and try to start it again.

Any ideas (seems like a leaky oil or gas diaphram) Thanks

Yes could be flooding over. You should have the computer diagnosed.

Thanks for responding. I was told by evinrude tech that I definitely have a leaky diaphram for oil or gas. The rebuild kit for gas is $55 and there is none for oil. $85 per hour, $400-$500 repair bill. Do you know how to determine whether the leak is gas or oil ? If it's in the fuel lifter pump I could buy the $50 kit and replace it myself Thanks

Check the pulse hoses (oil/fuel) if there is oil or fuel then that is most likely the culprit.
