  • how to restore

    Hi All
I am new to this forum. I just received my grandfathers evinrude 1914 model B
outboard motor serial number 24,897. I will post pictures once they are downloaded. I also have my fathers circa 1930 I think evinrude outboard.
I want to restore both engines;the 1914 has many bronze and copper parts which I will polish,
1.the flywheel appears to be aluminum how do I shine this?
2.I have seen several colors of paint 1. battleship gray 2. sort of a hammertone charcoal grey
3.is there a guide for determining the actual color and other correct restoration guides or photos?
4.I have seen the evinrude portion of the flywheel painted and some not painted
5.I have seen the alum exhaust letters highlighted in red is this correct?
    6.where can I get decals
7.Is the gas tank ptd grey or aluminum I have seen both

We don't have any catalogs or information models older than 1968, maybe there is some collectors here on forum that can help.
Might check with Original outboard product and service manuals for Johnson, Evinrude, Gale, and OMC to see if they have any information.
