  • Brand new L2 Gearcase question/concern

First time posting in the forum, glad to be aboard. I just had brand new L2 gearcase installed on my 2001 evinrude 225 motor. While still at the dealer, I spun the prop by hand and it spun freely about 3/4 of a revolution than hit a tight spot the I had to push it through. I then rotated it slowly by hand and could definately feel a binding at a certain point of the props revolution. I questioned the mechanic and he said he has seen it on a few different new lower units and that it should be ok after a couple hours of break-in. I dont want to be on the hook for blowing it up on the first trip if there is indeed something wrong inside the gearcase. Could this be a bearing carrier problem??? Any other ideas or sugesstions greatly appreciated

    Thank you

Chances are that it is a bearing. Sometimes the bearings need to seat. You should get it in writing that they inspected that problem and oked it, so if there are any warranty issues later.
