Questions about Evinride 85hp 85593 E

I have a couple questions about my 85hp Evinrude 85593 E outboard. #1, where can I find out if this should be charging my battery when its running? And #2, how can I find out what year the motor is?

It's a 1975 model and if it is electric start then should charge battery but would only have like a 6 amp charge rate.

At 6 amps, would i notice a brightness in my lights when the motor is running vs not running? I'm not seeing any signs that the motor puts a charge to my batteries. How can I check this?

Probably not, put a voltmeter on battery and run it 15 minutes or so to see if battery voltage increases.
