Bought a Regulator 585001. It has 4 wires coming out of it. The stock unit has 5. The purple wire is missing from the new unit. In the schematic, there is a terminal ring shown next to the unit.

Am I correct in guessing that I can hook the single red wire coming from the new two to both the red and purple wires on the terminal bar?

The purple wire has been eliminated from new regulators, all rest of wires connect same way as old regulator. Don't connect purple wire on engine to anything.
