I have been the proud owner of an Evinrude 80 Jet mounted on a 17' Alumaweld Supervee for about 10 years. I don't need the jet any longer and would like to use a 3 cylinder Evinrude/Johnson 60 to 70hp prop motor for the weight/fuel savings. I have a 25" transom and would require a " Bay kit" ( 5" extention ) to use a long shaft motor. Bay engineering, the folks that make the kits only make them for 1989 and newer 3 cyl motors.Has anyone used one of their kits ( #515) on an earlier motor than 1989 ?
I'm on the west coast, and alot of the 3cyls are shorts, some are longs, but almost all of them are earlier than 1989.
Any info would be appreciated.
