  • remove lower drives haft bearing E40PL4EES

    Hi,

How do I remove the lower drive shaft bearing, marked nr "2" in the schematic breakdown found here.?

Should I tap it out from above towards the propeller shaft-house?
Do I have to apply heat, or is it enough to just tap it out "as is" for example a 21mm (about 0.83 inch) ratchet wrench cap, an extension and a hammer?

And from what direction do I mount the new bearing?
What is the correct position of the new bearing/how far in should it be mounted?

Should I use gear oil as lubricant while fitting the bearing?

I´ve got it out now. I hammered it out without applying any extra heat. I used a small amount of cooling spray on the broken bearing though. The rest was brute force!

Now it is just to wait for the new bearing (and stuff) to arrive and figure out how to mount it correctly..
