new engine ?

1 year old 65h e-tech outboard needed a starter replaced...already? Got stuck on water..had to be towed in. Reason I bought the boat (pontoon) was to avoid breakdowns...now I'm worried it will happen again. Any thoughts on why a starter would go after 1 year?

Could be bad battery, battery too small in amp hours, dirty or bad battery cables.
