Cant get any fire out of stator.

Boat quit running no fire at all,determined the stator was bad ordered new stator still no fire. Put on a new control module no fire check new stator and had no fire out of stator. My engine is a 1977 35hp Evinrude 35753C. So I don't know if I have a bad new stator or what to do next. The stator is a OEM 0581651. Need help!!!
