  • 83' 9.9 bogs when throttled

Been playing with this on and off for 2 weeks now--

Starts first pull idles like brand new, as soon as throttle is turned it bogs and tries to die, if you turn back to idle it will do so just fine-

    So far I have-
    Changed plugs-
    rebuilt carb
confirmed fuel pump is working by pulling off output line and pulling rope
soaked carb in card cleaner ,blew it out did it again
    checked compression
    checked all fuel lines
    new tank
Confirmed spark and that both cyl are firing
    bulb stays hard once started..

Taking it tomorrow to a friends house and trying his tank and fuel line just to rule out the fuel line

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

That's usually caused by the high speed jet being somewhat fouled.

The HS jet is bra$$ and is located in a "vertical" position, screwed into the extreme bottom portion of the upper body nozzle.

Thanks Joe- After checking my tank and fuel line with someone elses I took the carb back off , soaked it again over night this time in pine sol , (could not believe how much stuff was in bottom of pan this morning after using seafoam and carb cleaner to soak it the first few times) blew it out real good used a small piece of wire to run thru the jets ,channels etc,

      Re***embled and runs perfect!!

Again thanks Joe had to be something in the hi speed jet as you
      suspected..
