  • No electrical power after several attempts to start

when trying to return my 1980 35hp evinrude to service the motor wiring harness nearly completely fried I had several attempts to start the motor with no success. the last attempt the entire electrical system was dead. when I opened the cover I found multiple wires burned through including the fused wire to the start solenoid BUT the fuse was intact. I did see green under the insulation of some of the wires that got cooked. I will be testing any and all components I can but could the corrosion in the wires be the culprit ?

If the 20 ampere power fuse was indeed intact and not blown.... there had to be some other wiring running off of the starter solenoid battery cable terminal that was not fused. Which one will need to be your judgement call.
