Weird outboard gas can. Help identify?

Well I have this old outboard fuel can (maybe 2 gallons) I got with my 56 10hp last week. Dont have a clue how the heck it hooks up to an outboard tho... It has a single hose, threaded on inside fitting, with a lever that seals an expansion rubber plug into end of hose to seal. So it looks to me like an adaptor is missing, or? No clue. No maufacturers embossing or stamping.. There is a picture of a guys head on it, my feeble memory thinks he is the Evinrude mascot? Oh well, I cant find another one on the internet to look at or get any info, so I thought i'd toss my line into the forum and see what I can catch.. Thanks again

Not sure if you are still looking for info, but I have seen one of these around my grandad's barn. I think it went with an early 60s Evinrude 7.5. If I can find it again, I will take a pic of it and see if anyone knows anything about the fuel can. I always thought that it looked wierd because of the way the hose tucks up into the handle.
